Prince George Day Camp Descriptions
Life Skills! (Ages 7-9)
This group is all about emergent life skills!
We collaborate to explore and practice essential daily living skills tailored to each learner’s unique needs. Our activities are flexible and can be customized to suit the abilities and goals of every individual. Together, we will focus on personal care, health and safety, daily chores, financial management, communication, and social skills, among other areas. Our goal is to empower participants to navigate their home and community with greater independence.
Group runs daily for one week from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm during the following weeks:

Eco Adventure Camp! (Ages 10-13)
Eco Adventures Day Camp offers a fun outdoor pursuit each day of the week!
Participants will explore different locations and activities throughout their community in our small-group social skill building process. Each day, two staff meet the group of 6 to 8 participants at the location for that day’s adventure. They plan out the activity together, embark, break for snacks, continue/return to the pick up site. Whether hiking, adventure/challenge gaming, or exploring… each day will increase their mindfulness in nature, as well as their social skills, while exploring parks, beaches, streams, hikes, geo-caching and other challenging activities that deepen their love of the outdoors!

Stories & Crafts (Ages 8-14)
This Day Camp is designed for those who prefer a quieter slower pace and have an interest in stories and crafting!
During each session, staff and participants read parts of a chosen novel, taking breaks to discuss the ideas as they arise. The participants also use crafts as an opportunity to dive deep into a story and learn more about the characters, setting, and plot. Students are immersed in the novel in a variety of fun ways!
Consistent with this gentle pace, this Day Camp highlights group dynamics, creativity and emotional engagement through fun activities with like-minded peers!

Job Skills! (Ages 14-17)
This camp is all about job readiness!
We work together to explore participants’ interests, the job market and the skills that might be required for various roles. The group creates personal resumes’, practices interview skills and learns about appropriate communication and social skills to help our participants prepare to apply for a job and get hired!
Group runs daily for one week from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm during the following weeks:

Lego! (Ages 7-10)
Join us for fun construction adventures building with everybody’s favourite building toy, LEGO!
Our In-Person LEGO Day Camps begin with a relaxed social check-in, allowing participants to get comfortable and connect with peers. We then seamlessly transition into group session planning and problem-solving activities.
Each session offers a variety of enriching experiences, including individual discovery and building time, one-on-one attention, small group tutorials, and group sharing sessions. These activities are thoughtfully designed to give participants ample opportunities to practice their social skills, collaborate with others, and expand their roles within the group. Whether your child is a seasoned builder or just starting, our camp provides a supportive and engaging environment for all.

Preschool Readiness (Ages 3-5)
Many families face challenges in getting their children ready for the transition into preschool!
Our day camp provides a fun and secure space for young children to explore the classroom environment and learn the basics of routine and structure. Activities include interactive circle times, engaging story sessions, and creative group play. Held at our established Community Classroom sites throughout BC, our Preschool Readiness Camps introduce children to early learning concepts through playful activities with letters, numbers, and social interactions.
We foster a love for learning while helping children gain the confidence needed for a smooth transition into preschool or other early education settings in September.
Group runs daily for two weeks from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm the weeks of:
• August 12 – 23, 2024
Student Success (Ages 5-6)
Many families struggle to feel ready for the transition into Kindergarten and the early primary grades!
This day camp creates a fun and safe way for small groups of young students to encounter the classroom environment, and the initial basics of structure and routine like circle time, story-time and other small group play activities. Hosted in our established Community Classroom sites throughout BC, Student Success Day Camps show students how to have fun with words, numbers and their peers.
We inspire a love for learning, while building a sense of confidence for the transition into their school, or online learning, in September.
Group runs daily for two weeks from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm the weeks of:
• August 12 – 23, 2024
Payments for above groups can be made privately or by applying AFB funding
