Our Community Partners

If it takes a community to raise a child, then it may take more than one community agency to fully support the family that cares for that child. The following agencies and individuals have participated in community-building activities and events with Pivot Point. As such, we are proud to serve families with support from the following community professionals, agencies, and government bodies who have helped build a stronger community for us all.

Autism BC

Autism BC is a non-profit, registered charity that works to provide information and support to individuals and families affected by autism since 1975. They provide support in three key areas: information and awareness, individual and family support, and education and training.

Family Support Institute 

The Family Support Institute is a provincial non-profit charitable society. Directed by families, the Family Support Institute assists and supports families who have a family member with a disability. They are the only grassroots, parent-to-parent support organization with a broad volunteer base.

Abbotsford Community Services

Abbotsford Community Services is a non-profit multi-funded community based social service agency. They support a diverse range of people, from newcomers in Canada to people with developmental disabilities. ACS is an agency that fosters community well-being and social justice through positive action and leadership.

Focus Disability Network

Focus Disability Network facilitates networking, education and special events for professionals who service persons with disabilities. This results in increased knowledge and contacts in the industry, leveraging opportunities for improved outcomes in employment and community access for clients.

Autism Alliance of Canada | Alliance canadienne de l’autisme

Autism Alliance of Canada LogoAutism Alliance of Canada is a pan-Canadian network with a broad and diverse membership of Autistic people and their families and support persons, as well as clinicians, researchers, policy influencers, service providers and organizations from across Canada.

Inclusion BC

Inclusion BC is a provincial federation whose members include people with intellectual disabilities, families and community agencies. The Inclusion BC provincial office provides support, education and advocacy where and when it’s needed, breaking down barriers and building communities that include people of all abilities.

Autism Funding Branch

The Autism Funding Branch assists the growing number of B.C. families affected by autism who need support. They are a provincial information centre for autism and related disorders that provides information and supports to families, service providers, and community professionals across B.C.

Langley Association for Community Living

The Langley Association for Community Living is a registered not-for-profit Society and charitable organization supporting children and youth with special needs and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. The Association offers a range of programs and services, including family respite and support, adult respite, and a full range of residential supports.

Autism Speaks Canada

Autism Speaks Canada is the Canadian arm of Autism Speaks, an American charity focused on autism research and awareness. They provide support to individuals with autism and their families by working with community partners, enhancing resources and services, increasing understanding and inclusion, and advancing research for ASD.

Ministry of Children and Family Development

The Ministry works together with Delegated Aboriginal Agencies, Aboriginal service partners and approximately 5,400 contracted community social service agencies and foster homes, cross-government and social sector partners to deliver inclusive, culturally respectful, responsive and accessible services that support the well-being of children, youth and families.

Community Living BC

Community Living BC is the provincial crown corporation that funds supports and services to adults with developmental disabilities. They work with individuals, families, service providers, and community and government partners to help people to have lives filled with possibilities in welcoming communities.

Pacific Autism Family Network 

The Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN) is a centre of excellence and network of supports for individuals with Autism and their families across the province. Their core purpose is to be a Knowledge Centre: Bringing together state of the art resources for research, information, learning, assessment, treatment and support.

Communitas Supportive Care Society

Communitas is a registered charity providing care in communities across British Columbia to those living with disabilities. As a part of their mission, they provide services ranging from 24-hour residential care to skills-based day programs to respite care for families. Communitas supports and empowers people of all abilities, from all walks of life.

YVR for Kids

For the past 32 years the YVR airport community has joined YVR for Kids and its underlying Clear Skies Children’s Foundation in raising funds for children’s charities. The YVR for Kids annual golf tournament and gala brings together the airport community in a fun and unique way to raise funds .

 

Down Syndrome Research Foundation 

The Down Syndrome Research Foundation offers a wide variety of educational opportunities to children and young adults with Down Syndrome. They support individuals with Down Syndrome through pioneering and providing educational programs and services, disseminating information, and changing attitudes.
